IV drip or daily supplements: which one, when, and why we do both

State does two things: a range of daily supplements made in France, and a medically supervised IV therapy service on the French Riviera. People often ask which one they should choose, as if it were a competition. It is not. They answer different questions, on different timescales, and understanding the difference tells you a lot about how the body actually works.

The real difference: the route, not the ranking

A capsule travels through the digestive system. Its content is broken down, absorbed through the intestinal wall, and passes through the liver before circulating. This route is slower, and how much of a nutrient completes it depends on the nutrient, its chemical form and what else is in your stomach. It is also the route the human body has used for its entire existence.

An intravenous infusion bypasses digestion entirely. What is in the bag reaches circulation directly. That is a genuine difference, and it is precisely why an infusion is a medical act performed under prescription rather than something you order online.

Neither route is superior in the abstract. One is designed for repetition, the other for a specific supervised moment.

What daily supplements are for

Biology works on cycles of weeks. Skin renews itself over weeks. Hair grows on its own calendar. Nutritional status is built by what you do every day, not by what you did once in July.

This is the entire logic of The Daily Range: one clear purpose per formula, meaningful dosages, forms selected for absorption, taken as a habit. Glass Glow for skin, over a three month course. Silk Ritual for hair, over the same horizon. Calm Core as the quiet base. Night Reset and Morning Spark as the two ends of the day.

What we can say about them is limited by the European register of authorised health claims, and we hold to it strictly. Zinc contributes to the maintenance of normal skin, hair and nails. Vitamin C contributes to the reduction of tiredness and fatigue. Magnesium contributes to normal psychological function. Nothing more, and nothing less, as we explain on The Science.

What an infusion is for

An infusion is a moment, not a rhythm. Hydration, vitamins and minerals delivered in about an hour, on a terrace or on deck, after a medical consultation and on prescription. Our clients book it around specific points in a season: the days after a long flight, a demanding week, or simply a quiet monthly ritual at home.

It is also, deliberately, the more constrained of the two services. A physician assesses whether it is appropriate, and can decide that it is not. You can read the complete framework on our IV Drip Saint-Tropez page, and the composition logic in our article on our four signature infusions.

How our clients combine the two

The pattern that emerges is consistent. Daily formulas carry the year: a routine anchored to breakfast and bedtime, jars that travel in the case, cycles of thirty days that renew themselves. The infusion punctuates the season: arrival on the Riviera, an intense week, a moment chosen with the physician.

One is the baseline. The other is the punctuation. Confusing them is how people end up disappointed by both.

Frequently asked questions

Is an IV drip more effective than supplements?

They are not comparable on a single scale. The infusion bypasses digestion, which is a real difference, but it happens once. Supplements build nutritional status through repetition. The right question is not which is stronger, but what you are trying to do.

Can I do both?

Yes, and most of our clients do. The daily routine continues as normal, and the physician takes your current supplement routine into account during the consultation. Tell them what you take: it is part of the assessment.

Do I need a prescription for supplements?

No. Food supplements are sold freely under European food law. Intravenous infusions are medical acts requiring a consultation and a prescription. That difference is not administrative detail: it reflects the seriousness of the route.

Which should I start with?

Start with the routine. It is the part that compounds, and it costs less to test. The infusion makes sense when a specific moment calls for it.

One house, two rhythms

We built State around a single conviction: your best state starts within, and it is built daily. Capsules do the quiet work of the year. The infusion is the supervised hour when the season demands more. Same standard, same refusal to promise what science does not allow, two very different timescales.

IV therapy is a medical act, performed by licensed professionals on medical prescription. It is not a substitute for medical care. Food supplements are not a substitute for a varied, balanced diet and a healthy lifestyle.
